I recently wrote a couple Windows Phone 7 apps for fun and submitted them to the app store. They were approved and are now live on the store, however I've been unable to get them installed on my Lumia 928 with the latest Windows 10 preview build. The appsdon't show up in the app store when I search for them and if I try downloading the XAP file directly from the Windows Phone Store website for a manual install, the apps refuse to install. I still have a few XNA games on my phone that were originally developedfor Windows Phone 7, but other than those, I'm not sure if pure Windows Phone 7 apps still run on Windows 10 mobile. The apps I wrote were targeted for Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango).
I know this isn't a developer forum so I'm just curious in general if WindowsPhone 7 apps still run on Windows 10. Hi,Thank you for your interest in Windows 10 Technical Preview.Basically apps designed for Windows 7 phone, can not run with Windows 10 Technical preview. We would suggest you to send this as a feedback to the developers team. You can launch Windows Feedback app. Amiga emulator online. Windows Feedback app comes preinstalled in Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones.Click the plus sign (+) to enter new feedback or click to sort.Hope this information helps.OK that makes a bit more sense, but I can still run XNA games from Windows Phone 7 on Windows 10, so I wasn't sure if all WP7 apps or just certain kinds were discontinued for Windows 10.
The last full version of Windows Mobile might have introduced an app store to Microsoft's platform for the first time, but it's only on Windows Phone 7 that the marketplace is set to shift up a gear or two.Indeed, if the number of apps and games already happily sitting on Windows Marketplace is anything to go by, developers are anticipating that early adopters will be getting a little app happy in the coming weeks.Even if 'smartphone' is your middle name, however, the process of buying and downloading games tends to differ from one OS to the next.
